1. Angelina Jolie’s father has convinced President Trump to impose tariffs on films made outside the US, threatening to wipe out Britain’s multibillion-pound film industry.

   Trump at the weekend pledged to impose a 100 per cent levy on all films “produced in foreign lands” to prevent Hollywood “dying a very fast death”.

   His announcement followed discussions with Jolie’s father, the Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, who has been named by Trump as a “special ambassador” to Hollywood, responsible for returning American film-making to its “golden era”. Voight, 86, who starred in films such as Midnight Cowboy and Deliverance, has been holding talks with studio executives on behalf of Trump to come up with a plan to revive US film-making

After Covid, then the strike, and the state of California making it super expensive, lots of industry folks were on Newsom to incentivize California productions.
