Hi, I'm Sarah Baxter and I write a weekly column on US politics for The i Paper. I sound British but I'm half-American and have moved between the UK and US all my life. I'm obsessed with politics in both countries. I lived in America when I was young, and returned years later as New York and then Washington correspondent for The Sunday Times. After a spell in London as deputy editor of the Sunday Times, I came back again. Today I run the Marie Colvin Center for International Reporting at Stony Brook University in New York, named after the legendary foreign correspondent (and my former colleague), who grew up nearby. She was killed in Syria in 2012 and remains an inspiration.
