Irish Defence Forces personnel drawn from the Cavalry Corps, competed in the annual "Best Scout" competition, testing a number of military skills and across several physical challenges.

Demonstrating the professionalism and skills of the Defence Forces, they placed 4th beating multiple US Army teams as well as teams from Germany, the United Kingdom and Canada.

  1. With all the conversations around budget and recruitment it’s important to remember that good soldiers are trained, not bought, and ours are some of the best.

  2. There can be no doubt that the standard of personnel or training our defence forces receive is excellent. I’m from an area that is within the catchment area of the Curragh thus supplies alot of the recruits for both the Army and the Air Corps and the ones I know personally are all educated lads with good heads on their shoulders

    The only thing preventing Ireland from being able to look after itself is the resources and costs it would take to fulfill such an order but the quality and training is absolutely here if the government ever decided to increase the capabilities of our defence forces

  4. Beards agogo in the UK armed forces nowadays but the Irish lads look even beardier. Is it part of the competition?
