TAMPA, Fla. – U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth visited MacDill Air Force Base Tuesday for Special Operations Forces week.

SOF Week is an annual conference for the national and international special forces military community to connect and honor its members.

Hegseth visited the base, along with other special operation leaders to meet staff and leaders at U.S. Central Command, based at MacDill.

During a speech this morning, Hegseth said he’ll keep working with President Donald Trump to strengthen the military.

“We’re beginning a new golden age of America,” Hegseth said, adding new emphasis is being placed on Warrior Ethos. “A golden age of national defense, but there is no time to waste.”

Special Operations Forces week runs through Thursday with events at MacDill and around the city.  

Thousands of people are expected to attend.
