This is actually not a very accurate interpretation of the deal. My understanding is Indian workers in the UK previously had to pay NI in India as well as the UK, this appears to be a tax treaty regarding NI employee contributions made in India counting towards the UK ones. The U.S. for example has a tax treaty with the UK to this effect for income taxes.
This is very misleading and not what is happening.
The media are spinning this to Nigel Farage’s advantage. Labour better get the messaging out on this effectively
Surprise, surprise, looking after everyone but the actual people they are supposed to. 🙄 Same shit, different coloured tie.
Gonna get even tougher getting into I.T.
Unfortunately for labour this will be seen by many as another example of the government putting foreign workers first.
This coupled with the youth movement deal (potential) with the EU will play horrifically for them.
The reality is this deal with India doesn’t seem great at all.
The sheer volume of workers coming from India, albeit temporarily…,will utterly dwarf that of brits going to India.
Even if…as will certainly be the case there is mkre to this…it plays to the betrayal narrative we see that is fueling the far right in pretty much every European country re. Immigration.
I suspect TATA workers in the uk alone will dwarf the number going the other way. On the whole the deal is a relatively good one but this element of it does mean a significant disincentive to recruit British workers in certain industries.
Starmer is a total flop.
The only way to know for sure is to wait until full details of the agreement are made public, then it will stop the media speculation.
Starmer literally can’t do anything right according to the press
This is the stupidest interpretation of what’s actually transpired. Honestly, these media outlets are just spiteful.
