Government and public sector working together for the public…..👍
Ooooh Nigel won’t like this! 😲
They shouldn’t relax the boozing rules, we all know what’s going to happen now
Oh wow, this is actually great news!
Damn! lotta good news, getting my hopes up that it might just be… a *good thing* thats happening!
Excellent. This will make a difference to everyone who commutes, and hopefully encourage people back onto trains if they don’t. Peak travel just wasn’t value for money.
Scrapping peak fares is a great idea, going to make rail travel much more affordable for many.
But scrapping the booze ban is a mistake. Too many idiots will exploit this to the annoyance of others, and the rail crew can do damn all about it. Far better to let folk have a drink on the quiet if they want (eg beer etc in a coffee cup), which rarely gets out of hand.
“But now, given the work we have done to get Scotland’s finances in a stronger position”
Would love to know what exactly the Scottish government has done or is this just the increase in block grant
So I can have a beer on the train now if i want?
Bring it , drink it , bin it , sorted!
Good, it makes trains almost affordable now and people who aren’t complete arseholes can have a drink. Arseholes were drinking even when the ban was place so it’ll make very little difference in real life. It’s nice to see the SG to return some liberties.
The relationship we have with alcohol is so saddening. Folk can’t even go a 45 mins train journey without alcohol, really?
Good news. Got to give SNP credit for changing their mind on this.
This is good for people who travel infrequently. The changes made to the Flexi tickets at the end of the trail made it only marginally more expensive for me.
But I am looking forward to my off-peak ticket to work and having a drink on the train at the same time!
🙌 good on em, more people using the trains is good, and cheaper fair over all is even better
Excellent news, so long as fares don’t rise to ‘peak’ levels in the next couple of years.
Great to finally be able to have a pint on a long journey again, as a train driver, it really helps pass the time.
Fucking hell, they actually listened to the unions and did the right thing. Fair play, I’ll take a rare bit of good news whilst the suns out 🙂
Looks like the SNP is gradually starting to listen to the sentiments of the sort of comments that get down voted on this sub which say things like:
“for the love of fuck gonnae just stop banning everything,” and,
“they need to doing more to help working class people in order to stop Reform.”
You love to see it.
Doesn’t banning peak fares just mean all times have the same fares? So it’s exactly the same as banning off peak fares? If what they’ve done is lowered fares in total then either scotrail will run out of money or more of our taxes are being spent to subsidise it.
Just spent more than I should have on a new car and justified it to myself by the cost savings of not taking the train and driving more to work.
Cheers ScotRail, spreadsheets crying now. I hope your happy.
Now I can use the money I’m saving on the ticket to Edinburgh to buy a carry out for the train to Edinburgh. Not bad.

Finally, something sensible!

Wasn’t expecting that.
