  1. > Goods exports to the U.S. declined 6.6 per cent while imports from that country dropped 2.9 per cent in March, Statistics Canada reported Tuesday.

    > The pullback in south-bound shipments was mostly balanced out by a 24.8-per-cent jump in exports to other countries, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Germany – the second-largest monthly increase on record.

    > “U.S. tariffs have put real pressure on Canadian exports. The silver lining: Canadian exports to other markets jumped, especially oil shipments heading overseas. That diversification bump is a small spark of optimism,” Andrew DiCapua, principal economist at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement.

I guess it’s Canada who doesn’t need the US.

  2. And this is just the beginning. The best is yet to come.

  3. I’ll buy Canadian over usa anyday, anytime. I, as a EU customer, am VERY aware of the usa antics, and have a lot of respect for Canada. Elbows up.

We are there and will be THERE when it’s necessary, if you get what I mean. The usa is alone, but Canada is not.

  4. A headline that will be true for every major country in the following weeks

  5. Canada’s on track to post GDP growth in the next quarter. I read comments from some in the know (for economics) who have said they are stunned how fast the pivot is happening.

Carney needs time to cook. But, already looking up. Elbows up!

  6. My read is that Canada/Canadians know it will be a bumpy ride and are prepared for some pain. They are fortunate to have a Prime Minister who probably has an enviable rolodex and can negotiate on a friendly basis with allies and pry open some doors. I sense that is a main goal of his and by virtue of the comments in this and many other media it appears there is a group of nations and peoples that are ready to reciprocate.

  7. A small step in the elimination of any dependence on the evil regime to the south. Sever all ties and work with actual allies. Canada doesn’t need anything from the USA.

  8. As a Canadian I am very much looking forward to forging closer economic and political ties with Europe, as well as Mexico, South America, and everywhere else in this great big world that shares our values.

Honestly, I believe it is LONG overdue. I hope our USA acquaintances will one day join this millennium.

  9. I’m disappointed that our imports dropped that little from the US.

  10. It would be nice to see more European investment in helping us develop the numerous rare earth minerals we have in Canada. It would be advantageous for both Canada and the EU to develop a rare earth minerals supply strategy

  11. Thats a win, I told you we will win. We dont want anything from Canada — DJT

  12. Was posted that we’re at a 500 million deficit over this. Waaaay lower than projected. So we’re doing just fine.

  13. That’s the plan right, more business from reliable partners and less from Captain Poopy Pants.

  14. Canadian Oil exports to China are up 700% year over year. Canada has literally taken over a substantial amount of trade from the USA. I doubt Trump will be happy once someone explains this to him. But what can he do? New trading alliances have now been forged, largely because of his own stupidity.

  15. Capua?!?

Hell yes, this new Spartacus is gonna be lit!
