  1. I don’t understand, did the parade go through celebration or did they put themselves in the parade?

  2. How can we turn this into a public holiday because work was fucking dreadful today.

  3. I agree with the sentiment that the Sikhs are a great bunch of lads.

Also it reminds me of different ethnic groups taking part in Paddy’s Day parades and seeing the troglodytes foaming at the mouth over immigrants being in the parades while usually giving out about them not taking part in Irish culture.

    Schroedinger’s Immigrant.

  4. I used to work with a few in a job years ago. Some of the food that would land in with them to share during their holidays and festivals was unreal good.

  5. There was a big population of Sikhs in my secondary school growing up, a great bunch of lads!

  6. Sikhs are kinda like the Quakers of India. Everyone thinks they are great. Few are sure why, except to say they do good stuff (with “stuff” being largely undefined).

  7. # Sign me up!!

    Key aspects of Sikhism:

    * **Founder:** Guru Nanak, whose teachings form the basis of the faith.
    * **Scripture:** The Guru Granth Sahib, which contains the writings of the ten Sikh Gurus and other spiritual leaders.
    * **Beliefs:** Sikhs believe in one God, equality, and the importance of service and justice.
    * **Practices:** Sikhs may wear a turban and other symbols, including the five Ks (uncut hair, comb, steel bangle, undershorts, and a short sword).
    * **Community:** The Sikh community emphasizes love, oneness, and spiritual warriors.

  8. I’m glad they feel comfortable waving the Tri Colour after all the anti immigration protestors seems to fly two each and are desperately trying to make it their logo.

  9. The only peaceful religion. Lovely to see them with Irish flags.

  10. I cannot recall ever hearing a single negative thing about any member of the Sikh community ever. Exactly the type of immigrant Ireland needs more of.
    (Also great food)

  11. Walked by them on Lansdowne Road and it was a great scene. Peaceful, serene, wearing beautiful colours and were handing out chocolate roses and cans of coke!

They were also cleaning the street as they went along. I learned that they are the 5th biggest religion and some Sikhs were massacred in 1984.

    Very impressive bunch

As an aside their current HQ in Sandymount used to be a cinema
