  3. It’s not just suspicious, they admitted the data was incorrect but of course they claim it to be a mistake, not a lie:)

    EDIT: There was no clear admission of a mistake from the government, check my comment below.

  4. Other countries do this sort of thing. Britain took in millions of third world immigrants to boost GDP numbers but it probably lowered GDP per capita. Looks richer; actually poorer.

  11. This is going to happen in every country that falls to the far right, it’s inevitable, they take your real money and burn it to fuel imagery and propaganda, and enrich their friends.

    When the government they lead is too incompetent, they’ll just have another reason to sell everything to the private sector and you will applaud it.

    That shitshow has been happening in so many countries.

    Europe and the western world are the latest added to the party.
    Sad, we had some somewhat not completely incompetent government, and we still fell for it.

    By the end of this shitshow, only a few percent will own everything, every house, every capital, will it have been worth it ?

    I don’t know, but you can be sure none of the every day people responsible for putting them in power will every realise what they did.

  12. It shouldn’t be surprising that individual countries don’t follow the aggregate shape. This kind of thing could occur if e.g. a policy was in place to ensure people were generally given adequate welfare to be above the poverty line, and different country level policies would be smoothed over in the aggregate. Of course, this is Hungary so I assume all the critique is warranted.

  18. Hungary has a suspiciously high amount of people that are on the cusp of poverty. This is not something to brag about. One broken washing machine and these people are fucked.

  19. The country is the poorest it’s ever been. Living here in real time and watching your friends and family panic into depressed stasis WHILE working their asses off is intense AF.
    I have friends above and below this line… And let me tell you.

    If the election doesn’t swing TISZA, there will be blood in these streets. You can feel it. People are ANGRY.
