That will be devastating to read for those parents and families. The eternal “what if”. Fucking horrible.
> “Because resources were scarce,” said Dr Bentick, “there was a tendency to blame individuals for not following guidelines rather than look at the underlying factors which may have led to a particular problem, and in particular staffing levels in the midwifery department. There were frequently not enough.”
>A lack of both midwives and consultants was a problem for years at the trust according to former employees that Panorama has spoken to. But there are too few staff in maternity wards across the country, according to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). They say thousands more midwives and hundreds more obstetricians are needed now. Maternity services, they say, need additional funding of up to £300m a year.

Welcome to the modern NHS.
Underfunded and understaffed and those that remain are paid pathetically and systematically told not to use any of the training they get, just follow guidelines blindly.
This isn’t to improve care. It’s to try and force a culture of tickbox following. Thus allowing the government to pretend that training an army of non-doctors to fill the gaps they’ve left.
You’ve already got Nurses being poorly upskilled to act like doctors in ways they were never meant to, Physicians Associates are being encouraged like wildfire (2 years of training to a doctors 5, can’t order tests or prescribe *yet* but that will change and we’ll all be told to pretend that’s okay), and coming soon is Apprentice Doctors who won’t have a medical degree but can follow algorithyms and that’ll do for the poor.
Fuck the Tories and Fuck all of this.
What a mealy mouth-breather weasel worded way of trying to slip out of responsibility.
Seriously, is this sort of ‘fuckoff we don’t give a shite’ learned or does it require schooling at some posh University?
>It’s almost as if defunding the nhs might have killed people. But my house price is up and poor people seem to be really struggling so that can’t be true.
