Yorkshire accents in York Shakespeare production spark theatregoer’s anger

  1. This is literally one person:

    > An audience member quit a performance of a Shakespeare play in York because it featured Yorkshire accents, theatre staff have said.

The theatre company has found a good way to turn it into a marketing oppunuity though.

  2. The “audience member quit a performance” would have been really annoyed at a Brummie accent from the 1500s and 1600s then.

  3. The theatre company that do this, Northern Broadsides are well known for it. It’s what they do. They were started by a guy called Barry Rutter. I saw a performance of their Romeo And Juliet once outside of Leeds.
