Minister: We should consider free power for those living near new wind farms

  1. Free power, no. Discounted power yes and up to a limit. A person living there should be able to use as much power as they like realistically (jaquizzu and everything) while also not permitting crypto mining people to move down for discounted power and compounding problems.

  2. This is the most common sense approach to Nimbyism. Charge more for keeping that lovely view IMO.

The returns for solar panels really should be a lot higher than what they are today. Some areas only give back 1p per KW, making panels a poor return for cost. Set a minimum return for energy pushed back into the grid, and subsidise installations.

  3. Like we do for people living near nuclear power stations, gas fired power stations, solar farms etc?

    Oh, hang on a moment…

  4. It’s just such a ridiculous idea.

If I look in one direction I can see giant power station cooling towers, in two other directions there are wind turbines.

I know which I would choose, it’s just not even close.

The “No wind farms!” people should be asked if they want a gas or nuclear power station instead.

    They don’t own the view.
