  1. It’s just been on the news there. Fucking twat was chewing gum and smirking walking into the court

  2. I feel like this was one of the crashes that made the govt decide to reduce loads of speed limits. These numbers in the article show how pointless that is. Drivers like this man don’t give a shit what the speed limit is. Could have been 30km/h and he still would have driven 130km/h and killed those girls

  3. Why the hell was he driving so fast? 150 in an 80 zone is indefensible.

  4. All road deaths are tragic but my god that’s the saddest story I have read in a long time. Those families are destroyed and will never recover. Imagine moving here from Syria to keep your family safe and both your daughters are involved in a crash, one dies and the other is hospitalised and is traumatised and wracked with guilt. The other girl’s dad tried to save his dead child with CPR on scene. The fourth passenger witnessed it all and probably has PTSD. Fucking hell it’s so sad. My heart goes out to them.

And for what like? The idiot driver wanted to drive fast in his new BMW? Unimaginable tragedy that could have been prevented by common sense and safe driving. Horrific

  5. What was his connecting to the girls?

Like how did he end up driving them to the debs.

The article doesn’t mention if he was a professional driver or a relation etc.

  6. The fact the young lad in the passenger seat had to tell a grown man with many years on the road to slow down was quite something.

I really hope most/all of the family didn’t sit in on the video that was shown, shot from the car behind. They didn’t need to see that I reckon.

Reading about the aftermath on the night and the poor man arriving on the scene trying to resuscitate the girls is absolutely horrific.

  7. Sentencing next week but according the RTE the defense used the below points to argue a reduce sentence.

    >Breffni Gordon BL said mitigating factors included that alcohol was not a factor in the collision and his client had entered an early guilty plea. Mr Gordon added that McGinn had also been seriously injured in the crash, he had expressed genuine remorse and he “formally apologises to the family and friends of the victims”.

I’m sorry but in what would are “he wasn’t drunk” and “he got hurt too” mitigating factors? I understand the point is to reduce the punishment his client gets but I hope the judge ignores these points entirely. 2 kids are dead and multiple lives ruined because of this lad.

  8. The last sentences of this article  infurtiated me.

His AGE was a mitigating factor? Why was he driving young people to the debs if he was too fucking old?

The INJURY he gave to himself for driving like a bollix is a mitigating factor?

Never let this unremorseful piece of shit out.

  9. You’re not allowed own an electric bike cable of going over 25kmph but you can own a car capable of 150kmph.

  10. If you directly ignore pleas to slow down surely that should be factored in too. It’s not a case of ‘O I didn’t realise’ or whatever, I’m sure they were probably terrified in the car. Really should throw the book at him.

I have a friend who drives like a fucking maniac, I’ve just stopped getting in the car with him now. Told him enough times to slow down and relax. Even city driving he’ll take big risks running red lights, crossing in front of other cars when he should wait.

  11. Very sad case that absolutely devasted innocent families because this individual was no doubt showing off and lost control of his car, killing two young girls on their debs night.

He should serve a lengthy prison sentence to allow him to reflect on the total carnage he has inflicted on these distraught families.

  12. This stopped me in my tracks when I heard it on the news earlier. Ending the lives of two young women just about to start making their way in their way in the world on what would have been such an exciting night of their lives. I remember how ‘big’ my debs felt at the time, so many emotions about leaving school, moving from home soon, saying goodbye to people. How that man can put one foot in front of the other after what he has done is beyond me. I hope he never has a moments peace.

  13. Well why wouldn’t he. Best driver in the planet. Heard him rev once. Amazing. Nobody could push the peddle all the way down like him.
