  12. I don’t get it…in Trump’s mind, are the Thenardiers the heroes? He can’t possibly identify with Jean Valjean or Javert – redemption and rigid adherence to the law are two things he doesn’t understand. And the students’ camaraderie and willingness to sacrifice themselves for what they believe in aren’t values he shares, but the grifting, trashiness, and cruelty of the Thenardiers are right up his alley.

  15. Les Miserables is by far my favorite work of art. Book, musical, movie. I love all of it. Victor Hugo would be appalled at Donald Trump and hate everything he is.

    It honestly depresses me to know that trump likes Les Miserables and probably doesn’t understand a single thing about it, because he’s clearly learned no lessons from it.

  44. I believe Trump has heard OF Les Miz, knows it’s famous and a hit for years and would therefore be good at the KC.

    I do NOT believe it is “one of his favorite musicals” and will not believe it until he says SOMETHING to indicate he knows something–anything–about the plot.

    Exhibit 1: No music from Les Miz ever plays at his rallies or MAR. Plus, does he know its French and British origins? I. don’t. think. so. That said, good on the 10 people who won’t go. Hopefully, none of them will. I can’t think of any message that would be more wasted on him.
