He needs to do the dignified thing and resign.
Oh. This is sad.
“Before long, Fetterman began repeating himself, shouting and questioning why “everybody is mad at me,” “why does everyone hate me, what did I ever do” and slamming his hands on a desk, according to one person who was briefed on what occurred.”
“As the meeting deteriorated, a staff member moved to end it and ushered the visitors into the hallway, where she broke down crying. The staffer was comforted by the teachers who were themselves rattled by Fetterman’s behavior, according to a second person who was briefed separately on the meeting.”
Recall this mf like two years ago wtf
It’s well documented he had a severe stroke, and it’s also well documented that strokes can possibly cause changes in personality and mental cognition. It’s obvious to those people who know him well that this is not the same person who was there before he had the stroke. Unfortunately, you can’t make somebody resign because I’m sure in his mind he’s still the same person even if those around him are noticing significant personality changes
I hope his wife and children are safe.
He should resign so that he can be replaced with someone who doesn’t have brain damage
This is really unfortunate what has happened to him, and I hope, like others who suffer from harmful personality changes due to medical conditions, we are later able to remember him for who he was before his health problems.
The part of the Intelligencer story where his wife confronted him about supporting Israel is really brutal.
In addition to the stroke. He did play a lot of football. Almost sounds like a bit of CTE as well. Don’t know his concussion history but could add on to his stroke history

This is alarming, it almost sounds like Alzheimer’s rage or something. He’s obviously dealing with unmistakable mental decline, and not just based on this one incident.
One of his main staffers even noticed it last year:
> Fetterman’s one-time chief of staff Adam Jentleson told a neuropsychiatrist who had treated Fetterman for depression that the senator appeared to be off his recovery plan and was exhibiting alarming behavior, including a tendency toward “long, rambling, repetitive and self-centered monologues.”
Boy, does that sound familiar…
Fetterman continues to indignantly brush off concerns too, so I don’t even think he has the wherewithall to consider something like resignation.
I guess I also have to point out that there are a number of congressmen who passed their “best by date” long ago. These are also politicians who have been declining steadily over the years, but with Fetterman I think it’s all the more unsettling because the change has been so drastic.
There’s also the fact that voters feel deceived because they thought they were electing a so-called “progressive.” But it’s pretty evident how some of Fetterman’s stances that have emerged post-stroke, are not what his progressive supporters voted for.
He shouldn’t even be trusted with a driver’s license much less a Senate seat.
More reason that should we come out of this not slaves in factories, not only do we need term limits, but strict rules about brain damage of any kind. Get a brain Injury? Instant dismissal. Injured brains should not guide policy.
The senator appeared to be off his recovery plan and was exhibiting alarming behavior, including a tendency toward “long, rambling, repetitive and self-centered monologues.”
In other words, a leading contender for the 2028 GOP nomination.
His family and friends are the ones that need to step and convince him to resign.
When is this guy not raising alarms at this point

Its not ableism to give this guy the help he deserves
Can we fucking elect some politicians who aren’t elderly or have brain damage? Like, what the fuck is wrong with *us* that this is who we gravitate to?? I’m not asking for much, can we just get some candidates that are of sound body and mind please. JFC.
I really hope that for him – and for anyone suffering they way he is after a stroke – that they find only compassion as it isn’t their fault, and then we collectively revoke their voting credentials in the highest goddam legislative body in the nation to hand them to someone sound of mind.
So … actual, medical brain damage from a stroke makes you more MAGA.
Makes perfect sense.
“He… was exhibiting alarming behavior, including a tendency toward “long, rambling, repetitive and self-centered monologues”…”
Hmm… who else does this sound like?
Demonstrably unfit to serve as a legislator
This guy is cooked
Why post the Huffington Post summary of an AP News article instead of the actual source? https://apnews.com/article/john-fetterman-trump-democrats-senate-pennsylvania-8129e206ed9479ad8534eac3fd128abe
Dems should denounce him and booted him . He has been unfit to be a senator for a while but now he is downright dangerous.
Not like his constituents would miss him anyway.
He’s had a crazy past 3-4 years and it looks like we’ve hit the end of the journey. Someone needs to get control of this situation before it turns into a tragic ending. I don’t really care what his title is, he’s a human that clearly needs help. Whether it’s his staff, what’s left of it, or his family, those who still talk to him, an intervention of sorts is needed.
I know a lot of people hate this guy but all I feel is profound sadness when I read stuff like this.
What’s tragic is he was on a care plan and the article says he picked fights with everyone involved with various parts of his care plan, then blocked them. It’s not that he wasn’t receiving care, he was hostile to those who were there to help.
And for that he needs to resign because it sounds like he has suffered some serious mental trauma m. If he is combative, a public service role is the wrong place for him to be.
> In the 2024 letter to Dr. David Williamson, Jentleson warned that Fetterman was not seeing his doctors, had pushed out the people who were supposed to help him stay on his recovery plan and might not be taking his prescribed medications. Jentleson also said Fetterman had been driving recklessly and exhibiting paranoia, isolating him from colleagues.
This is tragic and unfortunately I assume it’s only going to get worse.
“the senator appeared to be off his recovery plan and was exhibiting alarming behavior, including a tendency toward “long, rambling, repetitive and self-centered monologues.”
So he was acting like Trump?
It’s the depression and the stroke.
He needs to resign and go back into treatment.
John, for EVERYONE’s good, it’s time to quit.
Let me preface by saying I previously didn’t have a strong opinion on him one way or the other. It’s up for the people of Pennsylvania to decide his reelection or not. That said, I recently watched this YouTube video about some of the concerns people have and I’m convinced he’s having mental issues that he needs to address. I did not realize how many incidents have occurred with constituents, staffers, etc. My speculation is that he’s having actual cognitive issues from the stroke or he’s on drugs because the eratic behavior isn’t just being a jerk or something like that. I hope he gets whatever help he needs.
There are only 100 senators…yet I’ve heard of several of them lately who had signs of dementia, seizures, and brain damage.
How many of these people aren’t up for the job?
