At the edge of a fast-growing Bratislava neighborhood in Slovakia, COLLARCH has perched a bus stop that merges 3D-printed concrete and parametric design into a sculptural shelter. Designed in collaboration with Architekti Šebo Lichý and ICE Industrial Services, the Lipského bus stop is shaped as an elliptical cylinder with a distinctive, layered texture evocative of natural geological formations. It sits oriented to respond precisely to pedestrian flows and sightlines maximizing visibility for approaching buses while protecting passengers from weather conditions.

collarch enhances public accessibility with a sculptural finish
The Lipského bus stop emerged from the expansion of Harmincova Street, significantly enhancing accessibility and public transit conditions in the rapidly developing Čerešne district. Positioned strategically at the entrance to this new urban area, it embodies a seamless blend of function, form, and innovative construction techniques. Prague-based studio COLLARCH here continues its exploration of innovative intersections of technology, architecture, and urban design to reconsider the form of public infrastructure.
The structure is parametrically generated and with a 3D-printed shell, adapting elegantly to its urban context. Its subtle tilt toward the west mitigates exposure to intense afternoon sun and prevailing winds, while perforations on the southeastern side increase transparency and security. Complementing the concrete shell, a minimalist steel and glass roof frames the sky above and uses reflective Stopsol glass to minimize heat absorption, creating a comfortable waiting environment year-round. Integrated lighting and carefully designed seating — also crafted through 3D printing and finished with tactile larch wood — complete the thoughtful, user-centric design.
