  1. >The court heard that Kory and his attacker were known as “rivals”, with both boys being associated with different gangs.

    >Advocate depute Greg Farrell said the pair had been on “good terms” before a “falling out” over £50.

    >The killer, who was 13 at the time, refused to pay Kory back and an argument broke out via social media.

    >Threats were made on an Instagram page used by different gang members and the pair arranged to meet in Greenfield Park for a “confrontation”.

A 13 year old murdering a “rival gang member” over £50. What a tragic and senseless loss of life. 5 years will teach him nothing.

  2. He’ll be an even bigger cunt when they let him out.

  3. 5 years for that is a joke. Absolutely awful that he’s killed a young kid & will be released in 5 years.

    Makes me sick.

  4. “Social media can be used as a source for good” on balance it is the single most destructive technology ever invented. It is a mistake which we will look back on with utter embarrassment

  5. What’s actually causing all these wee feral bairns these days ?

  6. I thought we were gradually starting to leave all this gang nonsense behind, tragic.

Wee idiot and his fucking parents anaw need locked up for longer.

  7. So utterly failed by society, locked away for some time, only to be (more than likely) utterly failed again.

    It’s already cost one life.

The carceral system doesn’t fucking work. As other’s have put it, the wee shite will just go on to spread more misery. For fucks sake make some effort to break the cycle and help this fuck-wit, whilst they pay their debt to society.

  8. 5 years for carrying the blade. OK. How much for killing the kid? It was murder even if he’s pled the lower category. He said he was going to decapitate him. That’s intent. He went into a fist fight with a knife.

Fuck that wee cunt. 5 years is a disgrace.

  9. And what were Kory’s parents up to these years if they weren’t parenting their son and teaching him not to be a stupid wee cunt

  10. I feel like this gang stuff was mostly skipped by a generation and for some reason has been bubbling up again. Absolutely embarrassing for Glasgow and Edinburgh that things like this still happen. The rest of the people who showed up with him to this fight should have been charged as well.

  11. What world do these judges live in
That wee prick does 5 year’s and some family losses a child.

  12. The guy pictured was the one killed not the killer. This is a bit misleading.

  13. Will be realsed totally unreformed and hardened by the system.

  14. His parents should be up in court for neglect and for facilitating his crime by omission – i.e. allowing a child unsupervised access to the internet and to roam unsupervised with a weapon.

Looking at it objectively If i was a heartless bastard id say there should be scope for the victims parents to be hauled up in front of a judge too for the same reason but they’ve suffered enough have very sadly learned the hard way. They absolutely share a small part of the blame in their sons death and it must be absolutely heartbreaking for them knowing that.

  15. Nah, he’s murdered someone, took away 70+ years, and has to sit out 5 for doing so…

If we’re not going to lock up the kid for longer, because apparently if you’re young you can’t be expected to fully understand that murder is bad, then lock up everyone that failed to teach or encouraged that mindset.

If it’s not his fault that he’s been ‘failed’ and shouldn’t get a full sentence, then divvy up the rest between his parents and his gang members.

  16. A lot of human behaviour is rooted in animal instinct: territory, status, gang. Leaving people mired in that is the problem.

  17. letting them go easy encourages them to behave like this since they can get away with murder and have nor real life consequences.

  18. Today I learned of a completely ridiculous law, that if someone says some hurty words like ‘ can I have BACK the £50 I lent you’ turns into murder well no its not murder it is in fact..

Culpable homicide while acting under provocation.

    This law needs the bin.

  19. I’m truly at a loss for words. They were both children… and now both of their lives are over. I don’t know how we combat this, but there’s been a global shift of little boys who are just… not showing any regard for human life. We see it in how they interact with little girls, adults, and in this case, each other.

  20. That doesn’t seem close to enough.

We’re just going to end up with a violent dickhead 19 year old, the result seems inevitable.

  21. What is up with the judges in britain? Seems like this kind of light sentencing is more common these days

  22. I’d be astonished if this lad didn’t harm others either before or after that sentence is completed. 5 years isn’t enough.

  23. Out by 18 with the rest of his life to live. A disgrace.

  24. So he’ll be 19 by the time he gets out. Somehow to me that seems unacceptable.

  25. Some people fail at life. I’d throw the kid in a hole, bury him and think no more of it.

  26. He won’t serve 5 years.

Young offenders get automatic parole at 2/3rds.

    5 years= 60 months
    60*0.66= 39.6 months
    39.6/12= 3 years 4months.

3 years and 4 months is nothing for stabbing someone to death.

The judge’s hands are tied here by the absurd guidance from the Sentencing Council but Scotgov has no excuse for not using its powers to get that guidance recinded- whether by their statutory power to require a review or by direct legislation..
