Including the cost for waste storage and decommissioning of the plant would make it too obvious how expensive and risky the technology still is, especially compared to renewable energy.
As opposed to the facility we currently have for the waste of burning fossil fuels? We just dump that into the environment.
All the nuclear waste that has ever been produced globally would fit in a small swimming pool.
We have to store this stuff somewhere secure in a place no one will be allowed to go, administered by an institution that’s likely to be around for several centuries.
What we should do is store it on the Queen’s land at Sandringham.
I could have sworn I heard about a place that was built in wales specifically to store nuclear waste.
