Saw this cool looking bus passing through Crystal Palace today with wheel covers that make it look like a hover bus from Back To The Future II

  1. It’s just the 358 at the moment afaik, just a trial run. I live by orpington station and see them all the time. Hated them at first to be honest but the design is growing on me.

I think they’re intentionally designed to look like trams for public appeal or something.

  2. They have a habit of running out of charge and have less space than the old 358 stock.

  3. Kinda remind me of the cars from demolition man.

    Be well.

  4. I don’t know why but it gives me Children of Men vibes

  5. The 358 goes down my road, I first saw these quite a few months ago. They are really nice to ride in, very spacious inside, smooth ride, and info screens etc. I think that’s the only route that has them for now.

  6. Not very long and I’ve already seen one broken being dragged along by a recovery truck 😀

  7. They’ve sat in storage for a long time and only entered service last November. As well as the 358, Fastrack routes A and B in the Dartford/Gravesend area have also got those Irizar buses.

  8. I have a feeling u/HighburyandIslington may have the down low on these

  9. What I like about them is the low level windows in the standing area. It must let lots of light in.

  10. Why does it look like it came straight from 1980s version of 2030s?

  11. They have had similar buses in Belfast for a few years called the gliders it looks very similar just a bit shorter. They look like trams and operate a bit like them.

  12. We’ve had them on the Dartford Fastrack route for a couple of weeks. I like them.

  13. Hate them. A bus crossdressing as a tram. They seem huge in comparison to a standard bus, very bulbous and wheel covers that must increase maintenance costs/time for nonsensical aesthetics.

  14. London: Oh, look, weird a new bus.

Rest of the UK: BEHOLD PROVINCIAL PLEBS! You have a new bus, are you not grateful? You’ve never had it so good!

  15. Electric bus, pantograph charging at either end of the route.

  16. I’m sorry but that that’s one ugly looking vehicle!

  17. Is there a reason they decided to cover the wheels, or is it just aesthetic purposes?

  18. Since January I reckon, I don’t like the design but tbh I like the expirence of the bus I ain’t a bus person mind you

  19. They look like they would be a lot safer with bicycles and motorcycles.

  20. This looks like a Tron light bus! Note to self, light cycle video game would be more fun with different ‘light’ vehicles.
