Het verlagen van het verplichte bijmeng gehalte verlagen is top. Vooral omdat dit het boekhoudkundig trucje is waarmee we onze (al vrij lage) doelstellingen voor transport proberen te halen. Bijmeng gehalte verlagen dwingt ons méér in te zetten op elektrisch.
Afschaffen / komaf maken van biobrandstoffen is dan weer populistische zever. Zelfs volledig afschaffen van bijmengen is niet wenselijk. We zien green chemistry traag maar zeker ontwikkelen op industriële schaal; inclusief grote sprongen in efficientie en prijs. Voor een significant deel omdat bio-ethanol en bijproducten (bvb glycerol) beschikbaar zijn in voldoende grote hoeveelheden, stabiele en voldoende lage prijs.
Nu willen de groenen dit zélf in de kiem smoren? Om de prijs van brandstof met nog geen 5% te doen dalen?
Wat is het alternatief, zeker als we naar een sustainable & klimaatneutrale toekomst willen? “Geen chemische producten”?
Bad idea, unless the article goes further into detail than the title suggests and the ban is only about first generation biofuels. (I can’t tell past the paywall)
We need much more research on scaling the production of biofuels from waste and byproducts.
Unlike earlier generations of biofuels they do not compete with production of food and feed crops.
Biofuels can be a drop in replacement to reduce emissions in existing engines.
The production of lithium and other raw materials for batteries will likely not be able to scale at the speed we need to reduce emissions. Why put all eggs in one basket?
So a few years ago Groen called you Hitler if you didn’t install a stove, let East Europe cut down their forests, create small little pressed pellets from them and transport them all the way over here so you could burn them. We even had to invest heavily in building a ton of power plants using this genius technology.

Sadly, Groen inherently is a sitting duck for comments like this.

Die gemaakt van mais en andere eetbare producten zijn inderdaad slecht; niet enkel kost het enorm veel zoet water, maar vergt ook meer energie om te produceren dan dat het opwekt.
Biobrandstoffen van algen aan de andere Kant zijn veel beter; algen absorberen meer Co2 dan de meeste planten ,verdubbelen in massa als je er Co2 inpompt in een kwestie van uren en kunnen groeien in vervuilt water
Vrij zeldzaam om Groen te zien met zinnige voorstellen
Is this not a European thing? They changed all labeling across the EU to reflect this (being E5, E10 and B7).
