Prince Harry has been left devastated after his friends were left ‘disgusted’ by his comments on his father, King Charles, and his relationship with the royal family.

Prince Harry‘s pals are reportedly fuming after the Duke hinted at concerns over King Charles’ health. Recently, the Duke of Sussex opened up about the possibility of mending ties with his family following a period of tension.

In 2020, Harry and Meghan Markle took the extraordinary step of resigning from their roles as senior royals, announcing their intention to pursue financial independence in California. They expressed their desire to continue supporting Harry’s grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.

However, since their departure, relations with the Royal Family have deteriorated further. The Sussexes have levelled various accusations against the monarchy, including an incident where they claimed Princess Kate caused Meghan to shed tears.

In his bombshell memoir, Harry divulged details of his strained relationship with his elder brother, Prince William, and alleged that his stepmother, Queen Camilla, leaked stories to the press.

Last week, Harry spoke out about his eagerness to reconcile with his kin. Following a court ruling that upheld the withdrawal of his full-time police protection, he spoke to the BBC, expressing uncertainty about his father’s longevity, reports the Mirror.

He remarked: “There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family.” Prince Harry has expressed a desire to make amends with his family, stating in a recent interview: “Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things, but… There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has, he won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile.”

However, his comments have been met with backlash, with friend Ben Goldsmith telling the Daily Mail: “Tragic but true, Prince Harry’s behaviour is unforgivable,” Another acquaintance, who chose to remain anonymous, remarked: “I don’t know what’s more disgusting – Harry’s comment about his father’s health or his suggestion that people want him dead.”

This individual further noted: “It’s very sad, but we all know that he doesn’t want to hear things he disagrees with.”

Harry has previously acknowledged the strained relationships with friends, including the van Cutsem family, following the release of his memoir, in which he wrote: “Several close mates and beloved figures in my life, including one of Hugh and Emilie’s sons, Emilie herself, and even Tiggy [Pettifer, his former nanny], had chastised me for Oprah. How could you reveal such things? About your family?”

Relationship expert Lucy Beresford suggests that, from Harry’s perspective, he feels his father, King Charles, is failing him. She revealed to us: “He says he makes some comments about ‘the establishment’ which were on this particular body or board or committee that decides who gets security. So, Prince Harry is making an assumption that King Charles could do something about that. I do not know whether that is true or not.”

Despite the tensions in their relationship, Harry’s commitment to his father, ‘Pa’, was apparent. Following the revelation of King Charles’s cancer diagnosis in 2024, Harry flew to London without delay to visit the ailing monarch.

It is understood, however, that Harry has only managed to see his father once since the news of his illness emerged.
