Switch 2 retailers to check today

It’s still the early hours of the morning over in the U.S., so I’m not expecting any major Switch 2 restocks at this stage (if we see any today, I will be a little surprised, in fact).

However, if you’re up early, there’s no harm in giving the retailers below a quick sweep. I’m not personally seeing any signs of Switch 2 pre-order stock, but try your luck, these things can change at a moment’s notice, so there’s no harm in seeing what you find.

Could we see more Switch 2 stock this weekend?

With Nintendo Store’s pre-order wave now live, and the stock being snapped up by those with invites, attention is already turning to the next retailer to have Switch 2 stock.

At present, we have no confirmed future drops, but we did see Walmart offer Switch 2 pre-orders unexpectedly on a weekend in late April. Could we see something similar over the next few days? Time will tell, but you know that we’ll be tracking the latest updates, and will alert you if the stock situations changes.

Watch out for fake Nintendo Store invites

Yesterday saw the My Nintendo Store delivered invitations to pre-order to plenty of lucky Switch gamers, but at the same time, it looks like scammers are trying to take advantage of the situation by sending out bogus emails that link to a fake store page.

This tip-off comes from Matt Swider of The Shortcut, one of the internet’s most trusted stock trackers. Swider has been sent examples of fake invite emails by some of his followers, and while it looks pretty legit on the surface, there are signs of forgery.

So, if you open your inbox today (or over the weekend) and find a Nintendo Store invite, before rushing to click the link and pre-order a Switch 2, be sure to take a moment to ensure it’s a legitimate email. Don’t get caught out by this immoral scam.

Starting the day with Switch 2 stock

It’s 9:30 am BST in the U.K., and I’m getting that Friday feeling because ShopTo just added a new Nintendo Switch bundle, and it’s currently in stock right now.

As is becoming the norm with Switch 2 restock in the U.K,, ShopTo has gone for a bundle approach. The package costs £520, and includes a Nintendo Switch 2, a Switch 2 Camera and an extra set of Joy-Con 2 controllers. Not a bad little package overall.

While a bundle north of £500 is going to sting the wallet quite a bit, I do think this is one of the better bundles we’ve seen. So, if you want to start your weekend by locking in a Switch 2 pre-order, head over to ShopTo and get yours locked in ASAP.

$450 might not be the final price

While preorders have been quiet, it still might be the best time to buy a Switch 2 if you can catch one of the preorder restocks.

Recently, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed that due to President Trump’s tariffs, prices could increase for the console.

“Our basic policy is to recognize tariffs as a cost when determining sales prices in any country or region and to incorporate them into the price,” he said in an earnings call.

The gaming giant is also concerned that increased prices combined with rising costs for “daily necessities” could reduce demand and impact people’s budget for games.

It’s a catch-22 for not just Nintendo but most companies in this fraught economic climate.

STOCK ALERT: Switch 2 still available at Currys (UK)

It’s pretty late in the day in the U.K., but if you’re looking for Switch 2 pre-orders — Currys still has some console bundles available. Unfortunately, they’re pricier than the standard console and Mario Kart World bundle, but if you were planning on picking up some accessories or if you’re a Street Fighter fan, these bundles could do the trick.

And on that note — I’m off for the day. My colleague Scott Younker will keep you updated through the rest of the day should any Switch 2 stock drop.

My Nintendo Store remains quiet…

Switch 2 pre-order invites went out hours ago and sadly there’s no sign that Nintendo may open pre-orders to anyone with a Nintendo account. I keep checking the consoles using my personal account and it still says I need an invite.

Although it’s unlikely Nintendo will send out more invites today, I’d still keep an eye on your e-mail should anything come through.

You can still request an invite…

I’m still torn on whether I want to buy a Switch 2 or not. I have no doubt I’ll enjoy all the new games, I’m just torn on whether I wanna part with $499. That said, I just requested an invite to buy from Nintendo.

Tbh, I’m more curious to see if/when I’ll get an actual invite, but I’ll definitely share any details on how hard/easy it is to score a Switch 2 from the My Nintendo Store should I make it to the next wave of invites. You can also still register via the links below.

All retailers quiet in the U.S.

You never know when or where Switch 2 restock can show up, so I just did a quick retailer sweep and there’s no stock anywhere in the U.S. right now. I’ll keep performing sweeps periodically throughout the day. You can also check for yourself via the links below.

STOCK ALERT: Switch 2 at Smyths (UK)

When it rains, it pours. Just as invites started rolling out in the U.S., it appears there’s Switch 2 stock over in the U.K. at Smyths. You can get the standalone console for £395.

Invites are required…

Ok, so that rumor that you DON’T need an invite to buy your Switch 2 is just that — a rumor. I logged into my Nintendo account and was met with this “invite required” message when trying to add the Switch 2 to my cart.

That said, Nintendo might open the pre-order to everyone else before the end of the day, but for now at least — invites are required.

Invites are going out now…

Here we go! Console restocker Wario64 reports that the first batch of Nintendo invites are now being e-mailed out. What’s interesting is that allegedly some people are able to buy the consoles even though they didn’t receive an invite.

Whether that’s true or not is hard to say. But if you wanna give it a shot — here are the links below:

Currys still has Switch 2 stock…

Good news for folks in the U.K. It appears that Currys still has stock of those two Switch 2 bundles I mentioned earlier. They’re not the cheapest bundles out there, but it’s a good sign that there’s still inventory left. You can check them out via the links below.

Have these links handy…

Should Nintendo release Switch 2 pre-orders to the general public (with active Nintendo accounts), here are the links you’ll want. Remember, it’s likely they’ll require you to have an active Nintendo account, so make sure you’re logged in.

How to register at Nintendo

Today’s big story is that Nintendo is sending out invites to purchase the Switch 2. (That is, if you registered with the My Nintendo Store and met all of the requirements). Nintendo has stated that there will be additional batches of invites sent out after today’s initial batch.

If you want to get on those future lists, Tom’s Guide senior news editor Dave LeClair has written up a guide on how to sign up. Check it out via the link below.

Nintendo expects to sell 15 million Switch 2 consoles

Even though it’s considerably pricier than its predecessor, Nintendo says it expects to sell 15 million Switch 2 consoles in the fiscal year ending March 2026, reports CNBC. This is the first time Nintendo has set a sales forecast for its new console.

Meanwhile, research from Omdia says Nintendo could sell as many as 14.7 million Switch 2 consoles in 2025 alone. That would be 10% more than what Nintendo sold during the year the original Switch debuted.

Deals EIC Louis here back for Nintendo’s big day. If you registered with My Nintendo Store earlier (and met their requirements), today is when Nintendo will send out Switch 2 pre-order invites.

We don’t know how many invites will go out — nor do we know what time — but we’ll be ready when it happens. (If you registered, make sure to check your e-mail constantly throughout the day).

For those who didn’t register with Nintendo, but still have an active Nintendo account, there’s a small chance you’ll get to pre-order the Switch 2 from Nintendo today. (Based on what we saw in the U.K. yesterday).

No reports of Nintendo Store invites yet, but get ready!

It’s almost 9:30 a.m. ET, so it’s officially the start of the working day in the U.S. (at least for the East Coast). That means we can expect My Nintendo Store pre-order invites to drop at any moment.

If you signed up for an invite, keep your eyes glued to your email inbox. Once invites start arriving, you’ll want to check for one quickly, and if you are lucky enough to be successful and receive an invite, get your pre-order locked in as soon as possible.

There are no reports of any invites in the U.S. just yet, but it’s only a matter of time.

Are Switch 2 pre-orders being canceled at Walmart?

Switch 2 pre-orders are not being canceled. Pending authorizations are simply being returned to peoples bank accounts and those people don’t understand that this is normal. Just check your actual order info in your account. Still there? You’re good! https://t.co/iJAJBra6MTMay 6, 2025

One persistent rumor I’m seeing right now is the fears that Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are being canceled at Walmart, but it seems this might be a big stink about a whole load of nothing.

The ever-reliable stock tracker Jake Randall has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to explain that Walmart is merely returning “pending authorizations,” which is a normal part of its pre-order process. So long as your order is still present on your Walmart account, you should be all good and still in line to receive a Switch 2 from the big-box retailer.

So, if you pre-ordered at Walmart, don’t panic just yet, log into your account and check that your order is still present. If it’s there, then you should be all good. I’ll update if the situation changes, or I see any conflicting details to suggest that cancellations are real.

This U.K. Switch 2 bundle is still in stock

Cyberpunk 2077

Today is going to be dominated by updates on the Nintendo Store drop in the U.S., but that doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten my fellow gamers in the U.K., and you can currently pick up a Switch 2 pre-order at The Game Collection.

Now, there is quite a catch with this particular Switch 2 pre-order opportunity, the console is only available via a very expensive bundle rather than standalone.

The bundle costs an eye-watering £624. That’s a steep increase from the Switch 2’s standard price of £395. However, you get a fair bit for money. The bundle includes a Nintendo Switch 2 system, Mario Kart World, the official Carry Case, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Hitman: World of Assassination and a 256GB Samsung SSD card.

So, while the £600+ price point is hard to swallow, if you want a Switch 2 with all the extras, you will need to get stuck into some serious gaming at launch, it’s worth considering. Just make sure you have the budget to spare before committing.

Today could be a significant day for Switch 2 stock

Welcome! It’s been a frustratingly slow few weeks of Switch 2 pre-order stock since the console first went up for order in the U.S. on April 24, but that could be set to change in just a couple hours time, as today My Nintendo Store will start sending out invites.

The good news is even if you’re not selected, and aren’t lucky enough to find an invite waiting for you in your inbox, over in the U.K., we saw Nintendo Store also hold an open restock, which was available to anybody with an active Nintendo Online account.

A similar strategy hasn’t been confirmed for the U.S., but there’s a good chance it will be replicated Stateside, so if you’re still trying to get hold of a Switch 2 stick around in this live blog, as I’ll be bringing you the latest updates and retailers to check today.
