Het consequent verwijzen naar transgender vrouwen als ‘middelmatige sportmannen’ zegt genoeg over Van Doesburg

  1. They need to have separate competitions.

Honestly if you are transgender and compete at top level you have some serious issues. At that point you just want to get attention. You know every sensible person will point out, that you are not a ‘real’ woman.

  2. Why is everyone so obsessed with transgender athletes? In the real world, they’re not actually breaking records everywhere.

There’s always a lot of humdrum about this or that athlete beforehand, but eventually they’re not actually outcompeting other women. Why so much attention to a few cases with so little real world relevance? What’s the issue?

(nvm, I know what the actual issue is)

  3. Competition is either binary or it is open.
Binary would mean no trans women in women sports.
Open would mean mixed competition. And everyone knows how that will end for pretty much all sports.

  4. Ah shit, here we go again

Funny how all these so called experts start coming out of the woodworks whenever this is mentioned, even if this sub hasn’t really gotten anything to do with the subject at hand.

  5. Ah yes, Belgium, 2 years+ behind on america, as per usual.

Here’s a nice vid to watch on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHGi8C8UnFQ

And overall, it’s a classic rightwing tactic to hide their hatred behind a “legitimate concern” (airquotes). A red herring, to distract from the thing they actually want to signal.

The issue being presented is a red herring, this politician just signaled they think people should not have the ability to determine their own gender.

    And that’s transphobic.

“But the sports though” is a distraction. The dog-whistle has been blown, the people she wanted to hear the message have heard it.

And the consequences will almost certainly be violence against trans people, which the politician can then deny any involvement in.

A person in a position of power voicing an opinion is **always** a signal received by those who don’t have that power, to act in that way. And even if only a few actually do, the results are violent, and frequently even deadly. And barely reported on.

  6. If only men (and society) were just as worried about violence towards women instead of a few prices in sports no one cares about.
