On May 2, Prince Harry sat down with the BBC for an emotional interview following his security not being reinstated in the U.K.In the interview, the Duke of Sussex expressed hopes for reconciliation with the royal family, saying that he didn’t know how long his father King Charles had left to live.According to a new interview, nobody even mentioned said interview to Prince William, as the Prince of Wales is apparently done talking about his younger brother.

Tensions have been simmering between brothers Prince William and Prince Harry for years, and no doubt reached a boiling point yet again on May 2, when Harry gave an explosive interview to the BBC. During the inrerview, Harry said in part that he didn’t know how much longer his father King Charles had left to live amid his ongoing cancer treatment.

Per Cosmopolitan, when it comes to the aforementioned BBC interview one week ago, “apparently everyone’s too scared to bring it up” with William.

“William doesn’t talk about Harry anymore,” a source told Us Weekly. “Everyone knows it’s a subject that they shouldn’t bring up, so he hasn’t brought up the interview and won’t.”

During his interview, Harry said he “would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious.”

Of his younger brother, the source speaking to Us Weekly added that “William is done with Harry. When he becomes King, everybody thinks the divide will become even wider.”

In his 2023 memoir Spare, Harry opened up about the tension that arose from being known as the “spare” to his older brother’s “heir,” and that the “heir versus the spare” dynamic deeply affected his relationship with William.

“I was the shadow, the support, the Plan B,” Harry wrote. “I was brought into the world in case something happened to Willy.”

He continued, “My family had declared me a nullity. The Spare. I didn’t complain about it, but I didn’t need to dwell on it, either. Far better, in my mind, not to think about certain facts.” Harry added, “But no one gave a damn whom I traveled with; the Spare could always be spared.”

Back to the BBC interview: Following its May 2 broadcast, the network admitted to “a lapse in our usual high editorial standards” because the interview failed to “include responses from the Home Office and Buckingham Palace to allegations made by the Duke” (as in Harry, the Duke of Sussex), per The Guardian.
