Petro companies and investor elites have engaged in a new form of imperialism where the goal is not to invade a country and seize it, but to make wide swaths of a country uninhabitable, driving climate refugees into the Global North to serve as low paid labourers, and drive up the value of Land in countries like Canada and America.
The strategy is doubly effective because they profit from selling energy to the very countries who will suffer most from climate change.
It’s a struggle to switch from fuel and traditional electricity generation because it does not work properly.
