“The Covid crisis has been used as cover for those at the top to shift power away from workers and those who are most in need.” Completely agree, I never agreed with any form of lockdown or business closure. I’m surprised this article hasn’t been fact checked for misinformation based on that sentence!
We’re meant to get a minimum wage rise but it doesn’t even come close to compensating for the insane increases to cost of living. This country is a joke.
This isn’t news to anyone who is of working age or who has retired recently. The problem is getting people to realise we deserve better and can demand it. You hear people complain that all politicians are the same but that is because we never hold them to proper account and continue to vote for those who regularly fuck us over. We need people to really get involved in politics, not just voting at the general election, if we want to get better politicians that actually do anything for us.
Write to your local MP tell him you’re angry. More money needed at the bottom 30% or we paint your house with red gloss. Soon see them in parliament telling them the people are pissed!
I was lucky enough to get a 3% pay rise this year, the first time in 5 years. Most of it gets wiped out by the NI increase, so I’m only £5 a month better off.
That’s before the cost of fuel means I now can’t even fill up my car without going to a second pump now because of the £99 max fuelling cap, and the cost of my energy bills is projected to triple at a minimum over the next few months.
Even with a pay rise this year, I’m still looking at being £200 worse off each month without accounting for inflation pushing everything else up.
I really don’t know how people who are worse off than I am are going to manage, when a combined total of £60k a year between me and the wife means we’re still living month to month.
Almost like there is an economic system that is explicitly designed to exploit workers and concentrate wealth in the hands of a select few.
Wrong! The Global Economy is rigged against workers as we are a small cog in a coercive corrupt greed fuelled system called Globalisation.
The Conservatives spent a decade ‘rigging the economy’ against those in work and many businesses backed that.
It was a trap, as some now realise, and in my opinion the UK is more likely than at any time in the last 100 years to be looking at having a socialist government in the near future.

Not coming from Keir Starmer obviously!
