  1. Did the Supreme Court suggest trans people were now so deprived of rights that private orgs couldn’t even tell people not to insult any trans people they run into in the low level community sports they’re hosting?

    > She also makes no apology for referring to her accuser as “he” and not “she”. “He might be offended. But I think, on the day, when we were playing, all I remember is, there was a man on the team. And, so, that’s how I’m going to refer to him. For what he put me through, he clearly doesn’t have any respect for me. And so I don’t have any for him.”

Quite clearly not some miscommunication or mistake.

You’d think trans people were written out of the equality act the way people in this country are treating it,

  2. >She says her opponent clarified they were transgender and asked to speak about it at the end of the match, but Vaughan then asked the referee about it.

    >”I assumed it would be a women’s game, and that’s why I was confused because I thought they’d brought a mixed team with them,” said Vaughan.

    >”I said, ‘Is this player allowed to play in the match today?’

    >”The ref said, ‘I’m not sure, but because it’s a friendly I’m going to let it slide’.

    >”Their captain must have heard me ask, because she came up and she told me it wasn’t an appropriate question, it wasn’t a nice thing to say, and I needed to keep my transphobia off the pitch. I didn’t understand why she was saying that.”

  3. This feels like one of those “you had to be there” situations.

But anyway, what is done is done, she  effectively had a two match ban from her local team that play in the local park on Sundays.

Now it sounds like she had an unfair hearing and the original ban has been quashed, and no further action is being taken.

But that is not enough, she has removed her own anonymity to go public to say her normal life has definitely been negatively impacted.

She’s making it sound like she was wrongfully banged up for 8 years in one of the harshest miscarriages of justice ever seen.  She had a two match ban from her local pub league, that has been overturned!

I just can’t imagine going public with something like this.  What goes through people’s minds, I dunno…

  4. Even taking away the trans debate from this, she insulted a player on another team, with the intention of insulting them and thinks she deserves an apology for getting a two match ban that was overturned? Jesus fucking Christ, I know transphobes like to play the victim card but come on at least be less obvious about it.

Also shame on the BBC for their very biased reporting on this case, fucking hell even the Torygraph was more balanced!

  5. >Vaughan, now 18, has chosen to reveal her identity and in her first broadcast interview told BBC Sport: “It was stressful. It’s definitely impacted my normal life a lot.”

    Irony is dead.

    >Vaughan says she is currently being assessed for possible autism, and that this may explain why she “wasn’t afraid to ask the question”.

Chalk up another one for the “mysteriously sudden not-yet-but-maybe diagnosis excuse” brigade for whom there is *always* another reason.

    >Vaughan was alleged to have said, “that’s a man”, “are you a man” and “don’t come here again”, or similar.

I allege that maybe, just maybe, that “*don’t come here again*” is the heavily sanitized tip of the iceberg of what she actually said and she’s a bit of a c**t?

  6. “don’t come here again”

Screw that. Doesn’t matter the gender, any player saying that unprovoked to another player should be banned.

  7. One player insults another player, gets a two match ban (slap on the wrist) and now demands an apology whilst still insulting the other player?

And it makes it to national news??

  8. Comments here are mad. Apparently it’s extremist for a female to want to play football against other females and not males.

  9. Yet again, a story that doesn’t need to be front page news on the BBC manages to get there because it contains the magic trans element.

Her story sounds so embellished to make herself sound perfect that it’s obviously nonsense. “Oh excuse me I thought it was a woman’s only game here?” suuuuure.

She could have just left it alone and that’d be it.

We’re not talking about top flight women’s talent here, just some sunday leaguers having a kick about in the park ffs.
