“Ultimatum proposal” is a fucking oxymoron. It’s not not an ultimatum if it’s a proposal.
The only course of action is to uphold the ultimatum. Sanction the shit out of anything that isn’t sanctioned yet. Otherwise they’ll look like fools.

Lets be real – if one works from POV that since this is the second phase of invasion started in 2014, that Putler and his cockpuppet still stand on the position that Ukraine gets “concession” as not being annexed in full, and given that the propaganda inside Russia continues to massage people into the thought of invading further countries such as Baltic states, Poland and Moldova – if we work from the POV that Ukrainian resistance and ability to fight back is the one time we get to beat the idea of conquest from Russia for another generation (as they do seem to get invade-y this often)… Then phrasing this as “accept ceasefire or we’ll send more weapons” is not even aimed at Putler.
It’s aimed at disarming the Agent Orange propaganda about how Russia is poor and misunderstood actor in this and not an expansionistic colonizer on a war of conquest and genocide.
PS.: as a complete sidenote, I think this is also very interesting for us dilletantes on the sidelines. Situation on eastern front has been dire for months, and neither side is in any massive push right now. And there’s a general rule to serious warfare, the kind where you fight for higher stakes than just ground and minerals. You do not want to be discussing peace when you’re on the back foot. There’s alweys back and forth in any fight, and you’d get most concessions right after/during succeful push. So if Russians believed they were winning this war in strategic terms as in why they invaded in the first place – they would benefit more than Ukraine from accepting a cease fire and entrenching and resupplying.
Again, I’m a dilletante – but I think it’s important aspect to consider. This isn’t *just* about showing Putler the peace dove is a lie, it calls his bluff on what tbh I had assumed for recent months – that Ukraine is more on back foot currently than Russia. If Russia believed they were stronger now, a short term defined cease-fire benefits them more than it does Ukraine.
All the media are reporting that *Putin is the one suggesting to have talks.*
He just wants to control the narrative by rejecting this plan and pushing his own. And the media will write whatever comes up.
Of course offers “negotiations” in Türkiye without an accompanying ceasefire to try to avoid consequences.
