A Swiss woman was denied entry to the USA despite having valid documents. The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) has therefore raised concerns with the US embassy in Bern about the increasingly controversial practices at US border control.

  1. Just do the same the other way round. Detain a few Americans, question them for as long as is legally allowed, and then send them back citing “concerns”.

  2. And so far still no travel warning for the US from the Swiss government.

  3. Some of the valid reasons to deny entry to the US:
    – Lack of a valid ESTA approval or failure to meet VWP requirements.
    – Previous overstays in the U.S. beyond the authorized period.
    – Suspicion of intent to work or immigrate without proper authorization (e.g., carrying job-related documents or expressing intent to stay permanently).
    – Criminal History
    – Health-Related Grounds
    – Security Concerns
    – Misrepresentation or Fraud
    – Inadmissibility at the Port of Entry
    – Public Charge Concerns
    – Customs Violations

  4. “Valid documents” never granted access to the US. Anybody who got a US visa knows that it says “A visa does not guarantee entry into the United States. The Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials have authority to grant or deny admission”.

I hate the current US administration, but this seems a bit like when journalists find a lot of “man bit by dog” after a dog attack.

  5. until we know the exact reason, this is basically a non story.

people are denied entery in countries for all kind of reasons, in the past as in the future.

  6. That’s the reason I won’t travel to the US until the Trump era is over. I have too many negative comments on my account about DJT. Probably would be flagged at the customs as soon as I land. Never mind, will go to see Canada happily.
