Hello!,
I’m in the process of interviewing with a company located outside of Gothenburg, they have a low salary because I’m entry level (~24000 swedish krona net) per month. So I’m thinking about living outside of Gothenburg near the factory so I can pay less rent and also buy a cheap old car until I can have a better salary. I would like to know if it’s recommended to have an old car in sweden ( for example this https://www.blocket.se/annons/ostergotland/toyota_rav4_5_dorrar_2_0_vvt_i_4x4_automat_ac_drag_150hk/100240406), can I get a good mechanic, is repairing cheap?, or would you suggest getting a lease for a new car.
Thanks!

A 20 year old car is always gonna be a 20year old car.
There are plenty of smaller garages that repair “old” cars and you can probably find a place and a mechanic that can help you keep that Rav running.
I see no issue running a old car. I do that my self.
We do have relly high gas prices so maybe not a automatic 4×4 if you wanna run it as cheap as possible and that adds to repairs aswell 4×4 is maybe not needed as then there are alot less to go wrong.
Good luck

Repairs are very expensive unless you do it yourself and then you still probably want to import parts yourself.
Mechanics usually charge 500-1000 sek per hour.
Think you missed how expensive it is to own a car in Sweden. Especially in Gothenburg
Get a smaller car, gas is expensive
Get an old Volvo
