Got a pizza set from rewe yesterday and upon opening it found the circle objective on the plastic cover of dough as in the attached picture. Just curious to know what it is and the use of it!

  1. it’s an airlock. let’s out CO2 the yeast in the dough produces but doesn’t let on air from outside. so the dough stays fresh without blowing up the plastic wrap (:

  2. I guess it was fresh pizza dough? The yeast produces CO2 and this is an outlet for it, so that the package won´t explode.

  3. Dough with yeast, yeast eats sugar in the dough, emits CO2, CO2 expands plastic packaging, plastic packaging bursts.

To prevent the last two points from happening, there is a valve in the packaging that allows the CO2 to escape through the film.
