I’m fairly sure that part is actually illegal.
It’s like they saw the P&O fallout and decided they wanted their own share of bad PR. Fire and rehire should be made illegal, it is always an excuse to fuck over current employees and take advantage of potential desperation.
Crumbs, that’s a dangerous road to go down when a social media mob can mount a Boycott that can wreck a company in a week.
And some people were foolish enough to think leaving the EU would _improve_ worker rights.
I’ve never been able to work out what the rules for a strike are. Do striking workers get paid? Can you be fired for striking? Can you be replaced? Presumably I’d you’re on a zero hour contract and strike and they cannot sack you for it, they can just cut you to zero hours and give the strike breaker your hours?
