When i was in elementary school we always had to take the bus 2 stops to get to the gym (turnhalle) with the entire class. One time we started doing that on the seat and entire back half of the bus was cloudy (5-6 of us boys did it each on 2 seats at the same time). At the first stop (~2km in) the busdriver stopped and yelled at us for 5-10 minutes. other passengers on the bus that were already pissed off got worried they might miss their connection. they also got mad at our teacher who was sitting in the front and didnt notice it (usually it was a calm ride so she trusted us).
In the end us ~8 year old kids got yelled at by a fuming bus driver, an embarassed teacher and a bunch of adults.
i was never a kid to misbehave really and we were a super calm class so that was the first and only time we actually got in trouble. for some reason i remember us all laughing as well, like we didnt care to get yelled at because we new we shouldnt have done that and some strangers couldnt really give us trouble.
anyways we had to sit on the sideline during the entire pe period.

why do you think they used this pattern for the fabric ?

I mean, train seats do get washed, but not after every trip. And if you have people working at a sawmill or of doing some cutting and you can let tons of dust on your stuff.
