They’re already less than half the size they were and double the price compared to the 90s
I was round the in-laws at this weekend who have a box of mixed biscuit bars. I often refrain but spotted some mcvities Gold bars which I’ve not had in a good 10 years.
I was utterly shocked at how small it was. Smaller than what I’d call ‘snack size’, it was about 2 bites worth of biscuit. How much smaller can you go from there? It’s getting ridiculous.
I had an Indian takeaway on Friday. I used to have them quite regularly but haven’t had one in over a year because reasons.
The price was the same as it always was portions were at least a third smaller than what I remembered. An order that would have left me stuffed like Christmas dinner back in the day left me feeling like I could easily have eaten more.
Greedy capitalist cunt waffles deserve to die. They’ve had record breaking profits in the last two years, and they’re squeezing our balls for those extra pennies despite that.
How small can they go? They’re already down to 40g for about 70p from what used to be 50g for 50.
I’m not even that old and I remember them being even cheaper than that. I used to go to the shops as a kid and get 3 or 4 bars of sweets for a quid!
Because they’re a greedy company that want to maximise profits and will use any excuse to do so.
It’s funny to think that eventually we might get to a stage where the bars are literally bite size.
Surely they cant keep this up?
They’re going to have to stop reducing the size at some point and to be honest I refrain from buying anything smaller than 100g if it’s supposed to be a full bar. But it’s especially frustrating for me as I buy dairy-free chocolate so seeing and already more expensive chocolate bar be 80g really irks me
I noticed yesterday that walkers grab bags have gone from 50g down to 45g.
I remember Freddos being 10p like 13 or 14 years ago and they were massive. Looked in the shop yesterday and freddoa at 50p and their tiny.
The price quintupled AND they got smaller.
We’re so fucked.
I stopped eating Cadbury a while back… I don’t think they changed which ingredients are used, but I think they changed the quality of the ingredients and the quantities…
Ever since Mondelez International took over, the quality has been deteriorating. It doesn’t even melt properly anymore, it just becomes soft.
A bit misleading to call it ‘dairy milk’ nowadays isn’t it?
I was looking at the sharing/family pack of buttons the other day and realised how much empty space is in the package. We’re getting close to point where the sharing packs are barely any bigger than the old standard packs.
At this rate, a single serve pack of buttons will need to be renamed “Button”.
Stopped eating Cadburys since finding out they’re still selling in Russia.
Will they still have a whole glass and a half of milk though?, or like a glass and 7/20ths?
Ever since Kraft changed the recipe and lied to the uk workers about relocating away from bourneville I’ve boycotted them.
Cadbury and I do not intersect. Disgusting confectionary. Far too sweet.
To balance it out with more positive news.. Drugs are still the same price.
Just try not to get the munchies.
Once someone gave me some Asda Smartprice chocolate. Turns out the cheapest chocolate you can get is still chocolate.
Why not try a bag of the all new Cadbury’s Inflation Bites™?

To get an idea of the true inflation, in the 1960s they came in 8 ounce slabs (225 grams) and cost sixpence (2.5p). That’s 9 kilos to the pound. Imagine buying two quids worth of chocolate and needing a sack to carry it away!
Meh, I switched from Cadbury to other bars of chocolate, I used to go 100g for a £1 or seek out a discount on it, but now I buy shop own brands, honestly taste as good, hell I’ve been buying the Terry’s chocolate bars, that added orange adds a much needed flavour

Tesco Ms Molly is 100g for 30p, as taste as good… I say that but I haven’t purchased Cadbury for a while, they haven’t been 100g bars for sometime.
I’m surprised they still refer to that barely edible shit as chocolate.
“With net revenue to $7.24bn and gross profit increased to $515m, the confectionery giant said that the Q1 rise in its 2021 results was driven by organic net revenue growth of 3.8%” Gotta look after the stock holders
The other day I bought some Tunnock’s Caramel Wafers, and the packet actually advertised them as “Still Original Size”. It’s sort of sad that not shrinking the product is now something for a manufacturer to use as a USP.
Cadbury chocolate in UK contains palm oil anyways. not good enough.
We’re a nation of fatties and don’t need 200g chocolate bars anyway.
As soon as I get through the 17 bars of 180g orange I have ordered from Yankee bundles for £8, I’ll be outraged. Hopefully delivered tomorrow, so this time next week.
Smaller bars more price, just eat less chocolate and don’t buy as much.
Tesco finest shortbread with chocolate chips literally halved in size for the same price.
Went from 4 square biscuits to 4 rectangles that are exactly 2 old sized ones cut in half!
Simples….Dont buy anything by Cadbury as its American owned now…..
Aren’t all companies guilty of greed? Some more greedy than others but all driven by maximising their profits by increasing prices with lame reasons, changing weights and other dubious practices. I’m under the impression that shareholders call the shots, without greedy shareholders where would they be?
They’re only just admitting this now? It’s been going on for years. I bought a Yorkie duo the other day. I swear it’s the what the original size was years ago.
If they’re made any smaller they’ll be no bigger than a Freddo.
Has anyone tried a feast recently!! Worse change that I can think off
McDonald’s milkshakes. Had one for the first time in a couple of years and it was more like flavoured milk than a thick shake. That might be partly due to the change to paper straws but whatever the reason it was awful.

I assume since the bars are shrinking to match inflation, they won’t increase the price as well then right? RIGHT?!
This is not a new issue, people have been talking about it for years. It’s known as shrinkflation.
That is known as “shrinkflation” it is common practice,
They maybe talking about crappy chocolate bar here but this is only a mall sample of a much bigger problem.
Like the [shrinking width](https://preview.redd.it/ui9mun7d0ep81.jpg?width=576&auto=webp&s=0204fad87b0dd1884dd878e55ad929d924d29ccb) of toilet rolls.
There is a subreddit: r/shrinkflation
Again?
