  1. They have a point. It all depends on what definition you’re using. If they’re basing their definition in terms of sovereignty then they’re right.

  2. I guess the most accurate way to describe Scotland in its current position would be a constituent nation in a union, I can see how that might be a difficult thing to understand from an outsiders perspective

  3. Depends on definition, but we are a country and a nation, just not a sovereign one (the UK as an entity supersedes us in that area)

  4. It’s not worth it: You’ll make some poor yanquis heads explode when you try to point out that both *nation* and *state* are synonyms of *country*. They’re ironically not ready to understand what the word *union* means in a political context.

Have to remind yourself that half the time you engage with someone on the internet, they’re some daft fifteen year old who thinks they have all the answers.

  5. Hey they’re arguing against me in this sub! I’m in this discussion on Scotland’s side! I’m actively involved in being told Scotland is “just a state”

  6. Aye it is a real country, it’s just one that’s feart of independence.

  7. I shouldn’t have engaged but I told him to go fuck himself

  8. There’s plenty in Scotland who don’t consider Scotland to be anything more than a region with a parish council instead of a country with a national parliament. They’re usually the ones on here downplaying anything positive about Scotland and telling anyone who’ll listen that we simply can’t manage our own affairs.

  9. they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom

  10. BTW, trump means fart in Scotland. But trump is actually a racist child molesting cunt.
