With the imminent departure of Musk as head of DOGE, it is worth evaluating what his Department of Government Efficiency has accomplished.
I have worked in both industry and in education. In those environments, improving efficiency meant delivering products or services at less cost or in less time. For the federal government, that might mean reducing cost, maybe having shorter wait times at Social Security or the VA. It might mean getting approved projects built faster. It wouldn’t mean destroying all these goods and services.
Musk’s DOGE has done nothing to improve efficiency. It’s been all about destruction and implementation of Project 2025. I wonder how MAGA supporters would have felt if Kamala had been elected and then invited one of her billionaire friends to come in and destroy programs that had been congressionally approved and funded and to take all of our personal data. (Of course, Kamala would not have had Fox no-news to justify her actions.)
