Last month, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made a series of appearances across New York City as part of their ongoing duties.
During a stop at the TIME100 Summit, Meghan addressed the audience in an oversized tan Ralph Lauren suit —a look that sparked mixed reactions among fashion watchers—while Prince Harry joined her on stage in support.
Later in the week, the couple turned their focus to a cause deeply personal to them: advocating for online safety for children. The former Suits actress made sure to dress appropriately for the occasion as she opted for a chic cape look instead of her power suits and midi dresses. See stills of the outfit here !

Through their Archewell Foundation, they unveiled the Lost Screen Memorial , a powerful installation in New York City made up of 50 illuminated smartphones. Each screen displayed the lock screen of a child who tragically lost their life due to the harmful effects of social media.
For the moving event, Meghan wore a structured navy blue cape jacket adorned with gold buttons, paired with stacked gold bracelets. Her hair was styled in a center part with soft, loose waves.
Prince Harry complemented her look in a navy blazer, dress shirt, and tie.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined nearly 50 families for a private vigil, offering their heartfelt support, compassion, and solidarity to those affected by these heartbreaking losses held at the Perch rooftop.
However, some Reddit users were quick to point out what they viewed as “hypocrisy” from the couple. Critics noted that while they advocate for social media safety, Meghan—now active on Instagram—frequently shares glimpses into her personal life, including photos of their children, with some accusing her of “merching” her kids for publicity.
Social Media Reacts to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Advocating for Online Safety
“‘Life is better off social media.’ Meanwhile, his wife updates her Instagram every other day, AND she includes their children. Shouldn’t Harry be telling his wife all of this?”
“Harold, are you watching your wife’s Instagram?’ Cause she’s teasing them out there more and more.”
“The Grifting Hypocrites strike again!”
“So today it’s being a social media safety social justice warrior (word salad intentional). And yesterday and tomorrow it will be flitting around being a social media influencer with jam.”
“Maybe he should tell his wife that ‘life is better off social media.’”
“All while she fully utilizes social media to make money.”
Some of their fans supported their causes, with one person writing on Instagram, “How wonderful for the foundation to recognize this. This is the exact same thing that is to this day still being done to Meghan… the online bullying and hatred, and then when she speaks out about it, people want to call her a liar… What a strong woman she is and what a wonderful couple the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are.” Another person commented, “A very heartfelt memorial for all the children lost! Meghan and Harry supporting such an event is very admirable!”
