    He’s bragging about an obvious bribe and blaming Democrats for calling him out on it.

    This shit doesn’t pass the smell test for several reasons.

    But first I want to point out that this is exactly why we roll our eyes at conservatives who brag about Trump “giving away his salary.” It’s not the only reason of course, Trump has been exploiting his power and privilege to enrich himself at the expense of others throughout his entire life and career.

    That being said, if this whole thing was above board, Trump wouldn’t be ranting and raving on social media about it in the first place.

    Additionally, if this was kosher, The Trump administration wouldn’t be trying to find a loophole to make it “legally permissible.” They argue that by transferring the plane to Trump’s presidential library, which is ridiculous on its face, it no longer amounts to a “personal gift,” and instead becomes a “donation” to a public institution. What a bunch of horse shit right?

    Also, if Trump really wanted to be transparent, he would seek Congressional consent for the gift/bribe, but he’s likely not going to do that because he’s been overstepping Congressional authority throughout his entire term. Kind of like how he vetoed the bipartisan war powers resolution that sought to end US military involvement in the Saudi coalition led war against Yemen. A coalition that Qatar once belonged to.

    Furthermore, this can be seen as a bribe because Trump has taken several actions throughout his presidencies that have directly benefitted the Qatari government.

    He’s provided Qatar with arms sales and diplomatic support in the past, including during the 2017 Gulf crisis.

    Not to mention, Qatar is home to the largest US military base in the Middle East, and the Trump administration has only expanded on this military relationship.

    Then there’s the unsurprising fact that Trump has expressed plans to develop real estate in Qatar, partnering the Trump organization with Qatari Dar, a real estate investment company, and DarGlobal, a luxury real estate developer whose HQ is in Dubai. And of course he’s tried to disguise this by offering to open up economic and trade channels between the US and Qatar, encouraging Qatari investments in the US and American businesses in Qatar.

    All this is to say, if it walks like a bribe and talks like a bribe, well…
