The countryside is obviously great but there's something about getting a moment of London entirely to yourself that's truly magical

BREXIT WAS SOLD
Put the Wales back!
I liked Wales where it was
Ah, this wasn’t where I left the Wales! Did you move it again?
Is this why I can’t find it now?
Ah, the stale smell of piss in the morning, the glinting of sunlight on needles….
I love a canal tow-path, but you really miss that? Mind you, Wales….could be in Cardiff or the valleys, or Merthyr.
*To Wales
Ffs
I painted a picture of that bridge from the opposite side!
I was wondering who moved the Wales. Never mind. I have another Wale to put in their place. So it’s all good. And London remains unaffected.
Where abouts in Wales?
My Nan used to live basically right on the border (before she passed in 2020) on the edge of Shropshire, in a little town called Oswestry where all the names and signs were in Welsh, and the local supermarket was an independent family ran business called ‘stans’. I was amazed at how cheap everything was there. Full sized Ben and Jerry’s ice-cream tubs for £2.50, coke cans for 50p… It felt like a slice of nostalgia for childhood.
It was a really nice, quaint place. Not a lot to do, but such little light pollution at night, that you could see stars that you didn’t even know existed.
You can’t move Wales.
Used to love running that route when I lived east! Sadly nothing quite as good where I am south now.
I moved to Wales from London too, was a boater for 7 years in London so I know that image well. It’s bringing back so many memories.
Where did you move it to?
I walk this almost every day now. It’s still a city canal, but it is a small slice of tranquillity in the city.

I’d probably get downvoted but here I go. I can even smell the stench of piss and heating garbage just by looking at that photo. Stinking fruit flies flying towards your face, cyclists riding over with full speed at the narrowest space. And the dreary look of disease coloured canal.
Honestly, I’d happily take wales over that stabby muggingshire bridge. Nothing to miss for me in that photo.
*disclaimer – I’m only name calling the bridge. not the whole london.*
Sorry, but to me first association with a canal are – canal murders!
Hey OP
Check this out, you may be glad that you’ve been running this route for a while
