    Residents of Arizona, Florida, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas are facing high levels of ultraviolet (UV) radiation levels from the sun on Tuesday, a forecast map from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) showed.

    Solar noon occurs when the sun is at its highest point in the sky at a specific location.

    At this level, authorities warn that skin “can burn in minutes,” and recommend limiting exposure, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

  2. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a “Sun advisory” before. What gives? What might drive more UV than normal?

  3. What factors into this? To my knowledge, cloud cover is really the only varying factor. Everything else is basically the same, the UV index goes up until the sun hits the highest point, then it goes down again as the sun sets. Is there some kind of solar flare? Ozone hole? …?

  5. Why only those states? Is this an unusually high UVI? So. Much. WHY. wtfage abounds.

    And so maybeh Googs has produced an answer, which is/may be/seeems that high, thin clouds allow more UV radiation to get through which… what? More than what? Straight unadulterated sunlight?

  6. The most surprising thing about this is that the EPA still exists.

  7. This administration will be no where to be found when this years inevitable environmental disasters strike. First, live with less dolls. Next, your house is gone and you should just learn to be grateful.
