  1. >Ahead of the start of the 2025 edition, the Cannes Film Festival has issued an updated red carpet dress code that effectively bans full nudity and “voluminous” ensembles. “For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival. Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted,” per the festival on its official charter. “The festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.”

    >The Hollywood Reporter reached out to the Cannes press office for additional comment and a festival rep confirms that the charter was just updated to reflect “certain rules that have long been in effect.” The goal of the update is “not to regulate attire per se but to prohibit full nudity on the carpet” in accordance with the institutional framework of the festival as well as French law, per the Cannes rep.

  2. Split between “nudity always makes the arts more real” and “thank god, finally”

  3. Interesting enough that the people who keep coming to Cannes wearing these gaudy outfits have nothing to do with film….

  4. Article says it’s not clear if cause of Kanye, but I’m pretty sure it’s cause of Kanye.

  5. Cannes and Tribeca should what Sundance does, and have a online festival

  6. But high heels are still mandatory for women, right?

  7. That seems foolish. You would think they would want as much attention as possible.

  8. Damn, there goes my graduated cylinder costume idea 🙄

  9. Why do we even care what rich people are doing, esp given the state of the world. Largely our lives are going down the toilet but sure, no more bosoms in France, somehow deserved of an article. The Met Gala as well. A disgusting display while so many WISH they could be like that while getting fucked over in every aspect of life. Quite the spectacle.

  10. They also have some kind of stupid rule that women have to wear heels 🙄🙄

  11. Perfect opportunity to walk across the red carpet with my “End Genocide!” tee shirt.

  12. Who cares what they wear? “Decency reasons”? I’m assuming there may be sexual content in the films being showed. Purity culture is absurd.

  13. Take it a step further and allow t shirts/hoodies and jeans.

  14. Omg this is an injustice to human rights. Free the nipple!
