  1. Those are rookie numbers. They can lose a lot more than that.

  2. “Do you know how to ride a motorcycle?”

    “No.”

    “Good luck! Bye!”

  3. Didn’t they draft a few hundred thousand on top of their pre-war numbers? Where does the shortage of the other 2 million come from?

Doesn’t this mean their economy is booming, confirming what the Federal Reserve and the IMF say about the Russian economy

  4. All bad news for Russia is good news for the civilized world.

  5. They want women in Russia to have 10 children each…but the women are going to have to go to work soon to fulfill the roles formerly filled by men.

There won’t be many men around…so maybe polyamorous relationships will become the norm…but there STILL won’t be enough child care to go around so that the women can work and hold up that economy.

Going to quickly become a failed state. Especially if oil prices keep tanking and the continue the war AND the EU (and especially the US) continue to support Ukraine.

  6. Turns out feeding your labor force into a meat grinder isn’t a good idea. All those kids they stole A. Hate them and B. Probably won’t be good for much other than slave labor for a while.

  7. Russia is in a demographic death spiral. They’ve been stacking population losses and there’s no chance of recovery. The demographic curve never recovered from WW2, they had a huge emigration wave after the collapse of the USSR, and barely started recovering when COVID hit. Death estimates range widely, but they got hit hard. RosStat estimated deaths north of 800k. As soon as COVID tapered off, Putin, in his infinite wisdom invaded Ukraine. Aside from almost a million battle casualties, about a million more emigrated to avoid the war. Another compounding effect is that Russia went on a war footing, syphoning workers from the private sector to military manufacturing, and the army itself, which is much larger than it was at the start of the war. So, the tax base is shrinking while government expenditure is growing. Basically, Russia is structurally fucked with no way to climb out. Even if they win tomorrow, none of these issues go away.
