An estimated record number of 1.4 million Turkish tourists will travel to Greece this year, supercharging the country’s tourism industry with an unprecedented surge, according to new report by the Turkish Hoteliers Association (TÜROB).

“This monumental increase reflects the growing momentum in bilateral travel, further solidifying the close ties between the two nations,” tourism portal Travel And Tour World (TTW) reported on Tuesday.

At the same time, around 800,000 Greek visitors are expected to travel, to Turkey.

These figures demonstrate continued growth in cross-border tourism between the two nations, building on the success of last year when 1.2 million Turks visited Greece and 707,000 Greeks traveled to Turkey, TTW notes.
