BYRAM, Miss. (WLBT) – Byram Middle School has been evacuated again, after a second natural gas leak was reported there in two weeks.
According to Byram Fire Chief Harry Horton, the leak occurred around 11:07 a.m. and was found near a natural gas meter at the rear of the building.
Atmos Energy is already on the scene. Horton says the leak was caused by a faulty valve at the meter.
He says students are currently at the school’s football field, and it is too early to tell if they will be transported to another facility to finish the day.
A second leak was reported at the school earlier this month.
