Thames Water boss defends £195K bonus after three months in job despite company’s ‘excessive’ debt

1. When will the Free market people not realise that private companies can’t run public services. It becomes inefficient. We literally now have the government bailing out Thames water while the greedy boss collects his bonus…

   Similar to how under communism, it is inefficient for the state to run private services such as Supermarkets and restaurants

   3 months and getting 195k is well above norm….

3. If a company cannot be allowed to go bankrupt, it should not be a private company. It should be publicly owned

4. Don’t all bonuses have to be justifiable, reasonable? If I gave myself a 195k bonus when my business was in debt I would get battered through the prison doors by HMRC.

5. This should be a trigger point for the Government to take over. Not only is it tone deaf when peoples bills are going through the roof because of their previous financial ineptitude, it proves they have no intention of changing if the government is just going to come and bail them out every single time they’re in trouble.

6. Just to add to that. He’d been working there 3 FUCKING MONTHS.

   So must of us wouldn’t have passed standard probation but this creature got more than most of us earn in 5 years for three months work.

   Make that make sense.

10. It would be interesting to understand how the bonus can be justified, given the situation Thames Water is currently in.

    To attract a new boss for Thames Water would clearly have to involve some sort of bonus based on performance, else it is unlikely they could not recruit a suitable candidate; however any bonus surely cannot have been met within three months.

11. And they wonder why there’s huge dissatisfaction with the Government, still going about the same business as the other shysters that got booted out. It’s no wonder why people are turning to Reform and others as a way out. Albeit, the worst way out.

12. How these scurrilous scum bags are still allowed to run this”business” is a complete disgrace. The arseholes are draining millions whilst there is literally shit floating in the Thames. For every time they discharge effluent the bosses should be made to swim in it for an hour

16. Heard him on the radio earlier, apparently he made everyone feel good about their jobs… bet they feel terrific watching you living the life while they can’t make ends meet and the company is still a binfire.

18. It was lunacy to privatise the water industry. By definition, the water companies like Thames have zero competition.
