> The 25-year-old Spanish man had recently arrived in Ireland to study English when he was punched several times after homophobic slurs were shouted at him while he was out socialising in the early hours of the morning.
Quite loud overtones that
“He has 70 previous convictions.”
70 convictions??
“The court heard the victim had been at a nightclub in town and was standing outside a bar waiting for a friend when two men approached him, shouting homophobic slurs. One of the men, Geraghty, then punched him several times to the face before fleeing the scene.”
A disgusting, cowardly act.
Judge: “NOBODY breaks the law 71 times and walks free, not in MY court!”
This guy commits an incredibly violent unprovoked assault in front of a nightclub (a place that always has cctv) in a bright orange jacket and then decided to wear it out again. With 70 previous convictions?! I can’t believe people like this actually exist
Over 70 convictions, suspended sentenced and he’s a drug addiction living in a hostel.
What a terrible welcome for tourists in this country
I’m expecting a huge Irish crowd with flags and unemployed people again shouting “gEt ThEm OuT” because they want to “protect our women and children” because of this criminal? Or is he Irish?
70 convictions while enjoying the welfare from taxpayers
Good to see that the piece of shit is behind bars now, I hope he gets what he deserves in jail. The victim stayed at my dorm and he had to leave Ireland and move back to Spain after the incident. What makes it even worse is that it happened during Hispanic Heritage Month last year.

Things you won’t read on gript:
Usual bullshit of a judge giving a lenient sentence. Why suspend the last 9 months? I’m surprised she wasn’t falling all over herself to find “mitigating circumstances” so she could reduce his sentence even further.
This scumbag has 70 previous convictions. He has shown time and time again he is unable/unwilling to live in a civilised society, so why constantly punish society by letting him out of prison??
Fucking bullshit “justice system” in this country.
I’ve seen up to 600 previous convictions for people in news articles.
This man had 70. Still crazy. Let us all keep that in mind the next Reddit post or newspaper article about chaos in Ireland in general/usually Dublin focussed here.
First question should be asked, does the person have multiple previous or were they on bail?
I’d wager 90% yes. I’m not talking about 1 or two convictions, anyone can make a mistake. I’m talking all the chaos being caused by people with repetitive behaviours.
I mean, if he has 70 convictions and was still in the streets, the guy has absolutely no need to fear any repercursions, its just another number on his score sheet.
Are we honestly supposed to give a fuck about the “fell into drug use at a young age” defence? Scum
