Hello, I'm driving from Bergen to Sogndalsfjøra in 2 weeks. Which route is the prettiest of these 3 routes? I love visiting your fine land.

Also, first time in Bergen, what would be the best thing to visit if only have limited time? Tak!!

  1. Depends on what you want to see. Via road 13 (selected one) is narrow and crosses a mountain but fairly nice views. E16 to road 5 in Lærdal will go through the worlds longest tunnel.

The longest one is probably longer than the estimate there, but good quality all the way. Nothing special really. The no toll flag is false as this one goes through Førde that has a toll ring.

  2. The shortest road there actually has some very nice views. You could go via Norheimsund to Voss then to Vik if you want some more roads by the fjords

  3. Of the three, I would choose
    1. E16+Rv13+Rv55(?) along the Sognefjord and perhaps still blooming fruit trees

    2. E39+Rv5 quite varied route. I often do a stop in Fjærland. Jølstravatnet, a quite nice lake with some beautiful scenery at the eastern end. A glacier is visible from the road as you exit the tunnel; immediately after exiting on the southern side, take a left if you want to stop here as well. Glacier Museum is worth a visit as well.

    3. E16+Rv5 most easterly one with the most tunnels. You could stop at the view point Stegastein, some waterfalls and Lærdal. This is also quite nice, the valley between Stalheim and Gudvangen is quite scenic. There are tunnels of at least 40 kilometres altogether, one is 24 km, another is 11. I find them so boring. You could also go across the mountain (Aurland-Erdal/Lærdal) if you have time (if it has opened..)
