MADISON, CT — Southern Connecticut Gas discovered more natural gas leaks in Madison as a result of downed power lines from the past weekend, though the discovery will not lead to service interruptions, according to town officials.
“The gas company has determined it will replace the damaged 3,000 foot gas line from Route 79 to approximately 127 Overbrook Road,” officials said on Tuesday.
While service will not be interrupted, Overbrook Road will remain closed to through traffic for approximately two weeks for repairs and servicing, though residents will still have access.
“Any remaining leaks will be patched in place with temporary patches until the main line is replaced,” officials said.
Two Madison schools were closed Monday as a result of the leaks, but classes at Ryerson Elementary and Brown Intermediate resumed on Tuesday.
