After seeing again the idiotic claims how there’s a Ukrainian crime wave I thought it’s worth sharing here.
According to official data from the Polish police (Komenda Główna Policji), Ukrainians in Poland commit crimes at a lower rate than Polish citizens.
-
In 2024, there were approx. 1.5 million Ukrainians in Poland. The number of Ukrainians suspected of crimes was around 0.65%.
-
Among Polish citizens, based on 440,269 criminal cases and a population of about 37.5 million, the estimated crime suspicion rate is about 1.17%.
This means Poles are nearly twice as likely to be suspects in criminal cases compared to Ukrainians in Poland.

Funny, i just recently had an argument with a guy here about this. He blocked me and called me an idiot after I shared the info above 😀
I’m slightly concerned, I’ve seen some posts that suggest some Poles really hate Ukrainians, but I’m pretty sure most don’t, just asking, how common is anti-Ukraine sentiment in Poland?
(I’m Ukrainian)
It’s mostly DUI they get busted for.
More than this polak or less than this one?:
https://www.reddit.com/r/poland/s/oc6WXJTlRA
It’s the same for foreigners on the whole.
EDIT: the number of replies trying to challenge this are just ridiculous. Do you not read, are you not curious enough to check Poland’s police stats yourselves?
If you’re too lazy to look yourself, here’s the most recent English-language report on it, I can find: https://notesfrompoland.com/2025/04/16/polands-government-blames-immigrants-for-importing-crime-but-the-truth-is-not-so-simple/
You can downvote all you want, but the facts do not care about your feelings.
Thank you for that. I hate this idiotic thought that Ukrainians supposedly don’t respect Polish people and commit crimes. And some people are just blindly perpetuating this myth which only leads to needless hatred.
Thank you, Ukrainians. You’re the best kind of imigrants Poland could wish for. I wish polish society could see and appreciate it. Those who are now anti Ukrainian will surely miss you as we will keep receiving more imigrants from Middle East and North Africa.
I say it’s Volhynia wound bleeding through. Seeing worshipping Bandera, Szuchewycz and carrying UPA flags here and there doesn’t help. It’s a big nasty wound.
We should remember that currently Ukrainian men of age 18 to 60 are not allowed to leave Ukraine due to the war.. So these stats are not fair comparison against the Poles as it represents mostly women, children and people of old age.
Funny enough this is the case for most immigrants in most countries.
This should not be a suprise, those immigrants are actual refugees so mainly womans/kids/eldery
Yes
Because most of Ukrainians are refugees meaning women with children or women in general
Doesn’t it have something to do with the fact that majority of Ukrainians in Poland are women and children?
“Obecnie zarejestrowanych na tej podstawie jest 993 tys. osób. Kobiety stanowią ok. 61% tej grupy, natomiast wśród osób pełnoletnich kobiety stanowią 77% osób. Co drugi zarejestrowany na podstawie ochrony czasowej obywatel Ukrainy to dziecko.”
“Currently, 993,000 people are registered on this basis. Women constitute approximately 61% of this group, while among adults, women constitute 77%. Every second Ukrainian citizen registered on the basis of temporary protection is a child.”

Some of the reasons why this looks indeed the case:
* Poland doesn’t pay money to ukrainians. Hence only the productive working people stay. Lazy ones go to Germany.
* Ukrainians are really loving Poland. Too close. Too culturally similar. The resemblance is astounding.
* Ukrainians are mostly happy to have a tomorrow and many do realize that they live at a disadvantage compared to locals and absolutely must behave.
And yeah, DUI could be a problem. Absolutely fuck those assholes.
I saw similar discussion on twitter and you are comparing two different groups of crime statistics. The number 440,269 it’s the crimes committed in Poland and not only by Polish people. And also, for foreigners, they don’t count in all categories of crimes. But still, it is a low rate.
What’s surprising in children and women commiting less crimes?
guys if someone commits a crime….just prosecute them and thats it…if they are not local deport and just move on. I don’t get it how hard is it for some to understand …
It’s mainly the anti-Polish, nationalists we want out, bad history
its usually the case for migrants, same stats are the case in usa for example. If you’re a migrant, you face far greater consequences for crimes than local people.
Fair point here. Anyway, every single immigrant (no matter the nationality) who has committed any crime, should just be deported immediately.
1.5 million? Wasn’t it somewhere closer to 900k?
Propaganda is working in overdrive on social media to divide free people into bite-sized chunks for authoritarian empires. It’s effective and we don’t seem to have a way to fight back. It’s so vicious because it’s not just that Polish people start to dislike Ukrainians, but then examples of Polish people being nasty gets used as propaganda to Ukrainians creating a vicious spiral. I’ve already seen social media videos of a big Polish guy supposedly punching out a Ukrainian man and his wife for talking with their infant daughter in Ukrainian.
Russia has no chance against 74 m Polish + Ukrainians united. Russia has a much better chance if they can fight with 37 million Ukrainians and once that is done fight with 37 million Polish people. You might say “oh but the EU” or “oh but NATO”. Okay but if Polish people can be persuaded to turn on Ukrainians – it’d be easy work to drive a wedge between Poland and Germany, or Poland and the USA.
Id like to think that sharing the facts as you are will help. But it’s scary times… Maybe the only way to combat this is through warm personal interactions
No shit sherlock.
But there is huge anti-imigrant propaganda and anti-ukrainian propaganda, fueled by russia.
And russian parties such as konfederacja spread it.
They were always spreading conspiracy theories, which helped russia, antivax, “plandemia”, wanted to get Poland out of WHO, talked bulshit about “ukrainizacja polski”, “ukropol”, spread fake news that Ukrainian are treated better than Poles.
Sad that they got 12% in recent elections.
This criminal cases which you mention for polish people is from what period of time? 2024? Hard to believe.
You mentions that in 2024 there was 1.5m Ukrainians, but how much Ukrainian people lived in Poland before war – let’s say in 2021?
If among 440,269 cases there is some of them from previous years, the whole post is manipulation. Let’s compare data of criminal cases which was just from 2024 to be reliable
PS: hope that there will be as low criminal cases as possible without division by nationality. If anybody lives in Poland, pays taxes, respect neighbors, tradition and law – he is more than welcome 😉
Death penalty for DUI
Yea, it’s almost as if Poland is full of Poles and the probability of a criminal actually being Polish is high.
I only find one problem with that crime statistics – there are currently far more women and children now than men in Poland that are Ukrainians.
The vast majority of Ukrainian refugees are women, children and seniors/elderly. Of course they commit fewer crimes than the general public.
Because they’re busy working, as a positive. People with too much free time tend to get themselves in trouble
Tbh I feel way more safe when I hear bunch of guys speaking ukrainian on the street at night
It’s much more likely that in group of approximately 10M young men there will be more people capable of commiting a crime than in group of 1.5M of mostly elderly people and women and children.
