They grow up so fast

  1. Absolute mess destroyed the view , tourists will love where is the Titanic , dock yard ..oh you can only see it if you go way over there.. but look at the generic concrete apartments that noone from here can afford at 2k a pop monthly rent , .Looks like those apartments will literally sink at some point built on reclaimed land and the sea level looks a bit scary

  2. Huh… I thought the Titanic experience building was hidden behind these new apartment blocks, never to be seen again from the SSE arena side where W5 is. I remember something on UTV news that the view is now gone for people wanting photos with the Titanic experience building as a backdrop. Let’s hope the apartments don’t become Air B&B and get some real families in there.

  3. Someone in the planning department took some bribe to allow those ugly boxes to go up where they are.

  4. Interesting, I just found out that land the apartments are builtnon belongs to a nasty piece of work and friends with Sammy Wilson DUP.

The trial of two prominent Belfast businessmen accused of fraud in relation to a £1bn loan deal is now expected to begin in January 2025.

Frank Cushnahan, 82 of Alexandra Gate, Holywood, and Ian Coulter, 53 of Templepatrick Road, Ballyclare, have pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The charges relate to the sale of a loan book held by Ireland’s National Asset Management Agency (Nama).

Nama was set up by the Irish government to deal with toxic property loans after Ireland’s banking crisis in 2008

He is also charged with making an article in connection with a fraud, namely a £9m invoice, on or about 13 August 2014 and two counts of concealing or transferring criminal property between 15 September 2014 and 1 December 2014

  5. This photo is quite deceiving (albeit beautiful photography!). The museum is completely obscured by these apartments, no idea who thought this was a good idea.

  6. All the nimbys out in force

I for one am glad of progress

  7. Why are people in the big positions of power that pass the planning for things like this always so cunt-stupid?

  8. They can try and ‘sex up’ that image all they want with their filters and whatnot, but those buildings made an absolute balls of the whole thing. Brutal look to the place now.

  9. These can get built in the blink of an eye, and yet the Belfast Aquarium is dead in the water from the get-go. Make it make sense. No one wants this shit.

  10. I’ve watched this building go up over the months, and I’m always taken back and how unbelievably fucking hideous it is. Chernobylesque.

  11. Ahh Belfast….the only city keeping the 1980s Soviet Bloc Chic style alive.

  12. So many people are quick to downvote anyone calling this out for the absolute fucking eyesore that it is (before we even get into who the fuck can even afford to live in them)

Try walking over that stretch now from around SSE to the Titanic building or even just from the Glider stop across the street at the Belfast Met to the building and then see what you think, it’s mental to me and always will be that they went up in that spot.

  13. Huh… they actually did this.
What a disaster, it honestly feels quite… I don’t know disrespectful? Seems like we’re shunting apart of our history behind some concrete slabs for seemingly no reason. Like out of all the places to put apartments or housing developments and they’re slapped right bang in front of the titanic museum.
Very unfortunate, was a great view.

  14. Unbelievable eyesore 😞 who would have had to sign off on this? Belfast city council?
